What Second Grade looks like here
The fluency-and-consolidation year; reading becomes smooth enough to read-to-learn, and math extends to two- and three-digit work and the first multiplication.
Second graders write more, so the class storybook page carries real short writing -- still behind the teacher-approval gate, still advisory-scanned.
From the emergent-reader first grade into fluency; less reading WITH the child, more reading BY the child.
Standards
The standards Second Grade lessons align to in New Jersey
In New Jersey, the New Jersey Department of Education sets the standards a public school must teach. We are not the New Jersey Department of Education, and we are not endorsed, approved, or affiliated with it -- or with the organizations that steward the frameworks below. We write each Second Grade lesson against published national standards frameworks that many states draw on, and we tell you which ones, so you can check them against what New Jersey requires.
At Grades K-2, Second Grade focuses on the foundational years -- learning to read with phonics, building number sense, and counting. The lessons run in these subject lanes: Reading & writing, Mathematics, Science, Social studies & civics, and The arts.

Standards vary by state. New Jersey sets its own academic standards through the New Jersey Department of Education, not through us; its own site is the place to check the exact documents and codes it currently requires for each subject above.
We do not reproduce the standard text here; the steward’s site is the place to read it in full. “Aligned to” is a claim we make about our own work, not a stamp from someone else.
Honest by default
The school stays the FERPA custodian of student records; a rep-scoped view reads zero grade rows at the database engine. Money, pricing, and checkout are honest-off on this page, and any school count above is an NCES Common Core of Data reference figure, never a claim of adoption in New Jersey.
